Overview

Contract Lumber is seeking a Structural Designer to join their team in Pataskala, Ohio. The role focuses on creating accurate and optimized design layouts while providing exceptional customer service and support to builder customers.

Key responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints
  • Ensure designs conform to standards and are accurate
  • Request sealed engineering drawings and follow up as necessary
  • Generate Engineered Wood Products placement layouts for construction
  • Create accurate material take offs for estimating
  • Provide job-site support with the sales department when requested

Required skills

  • General knowledge of construction industry
  • Knowledge of floor and roof truss design process
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural blueprints
  • Ability to calculate tributary loads and concentrated loads
  • Knowledge of current local codes associated with structural design
  • Good written and oral communication skills
