Overview

The Staff Research Associate 3 will support the UCANR Fire Network in implementing programs aimed at wildfire risk reduction through prescribed fire. This role involves both field and office tasks, including managing educational programs and facilitating collaborations while empowering Californians through research and outreach.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform and lead field-based experimental work in fire ecology and forestry
  • Develop research and prepare written reports on field methods and results
  • Conduct site visits to advise landowners on best management practices
  • Coordinate volunteers and logistics for field procedures
  • Train staff, volunteers, and students in safe field operations
  • Secure permits and documentations for field experiments
  • Synthesize ecology research to inform best management recommendations
  • Collaborate with local partners on research and educational programming
  • Demonstrate commitment to professional development
  • Perform other duties as assigned
