Overview

As a Sr. Lead AI Engineer at Capital One, you will be at the forefront of creating responsible and reliable AI systems that enhance banking experiences. The role focuses on designing, developing, and supporting AI software components while collaborating with cross-functional teams to innovate AI-powered products.

Key responsibilities

  • Partner with engineers, research scientists, technical program managers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including foundation model training and LLM inference.
  • Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI technologies such as AWS Ultraclusters and PyTorch.
  • Introduce LLM optimization techniques to improve performance of large-scale production AI systems.
  • Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap of foundational AI systems.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
  • 6+ years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies.
  • Proficiency in programming with Python, Go, Scala, or Java.
  • Experience deploying scalable AI solutions on cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor engineering teams.
  • Strong foundation in engineering and mathematics.
