Overview

The Sr. Lead AI Engineer (AI Foundations) at Capital One plays a critical role in creating responsible and reliable AI systems that transform banking experiences. This position is part of the Intelligent Foundations and Experiences (IFX) team, focusing on the design and deployment of AI-powered products that enhance customer and associate interactions. The engineer will partner with cross-functional teams to leverage advanced AI technologies and contribute to the technical vision of foundational AI systems.

Key responsibilities

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components.
  • Leverage a broad stack of Open Source and SaaS AI technologies.
  • Introduce state-of-the-art optimization techniques for AI system performance.
  • Contribute to the technical vision and roadmap of foundational AI systems.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
  • 6+ years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Go, Scala, or Java.
  • Experience deploying scalable AI solutions on cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
  • Ability to lead and mentor engineering teams and influence stakeholders.
  • Experience with LLM Inference, Similarity Search, VectorDBs, and Guardrails.
  • Strong foundation in engineering and mathematics.
