Overview

The Country Club of Spartanburg is looking for a dedicated Sous Chef to join their culinary leadership team. This role involves leading a skilled culinary team and enhancing the member dining experience through creativity and operational excellence, while working closely with the Executive Chef.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of cooks and culinary professionals
  • Support à la carte dining, banquet operations, and special events
  • Maintain exceptional standards for food quality and presentation
  • Assist with menu development and seasonal offerings
  • Manage food cost controls, inventory, and purchasing
  • Train and mentor team members
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
  • Take responsibility for kitchen operations in the Executive Chef's absence

Required skills

  • Culinary degree or formal culinary training
  • Minimum of three years of progressive culinary experience
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience in culinary settings
  • Strong knowledge of food production and kitchen operations
  • Inventory management and cost control skills
  • Current food safety certification
  • Ability to lead in a fast-paced environment
