Job Description

Overview

Duke Health is seeking a MFM Sonographer to join the team at Duke Perinatal Raleigh in North Carolina. This role involves performing diagnostic OB/GYN ultrasound examinations and assisting physicians with invasive procedures, while ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform clinical assessment and diagnostic OB/GYN ultrasound examinations independently
  • Assist physicians in the performance of invasive procedures such as amniocentesis and CVS
  • Use cognitive sonographic skills to identify and record anatomical and pathological findings
  • Analyze sonograms and communicate findings to the physician
  • Ensure the safety and comfort of patients during examinations
  • Assist with daily operations of the practice, including maintenance of ultrasound equipment
  • Teach ultrasound technology to new physicians, residents, and fellows

Required skills

  • Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program accredited by CAAHEP
  • BLS certification required
  • ARDMS OB/GYN certification to be obtained within 18 months of employment
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography desirable
  • Strong communication skills
  • Team collaboration and patient care skills
