Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSeasonal Gig Work $32-$100+ Per Property Flexible Schedule 1099 ContractorABOUT THE OPPORTUNITYFoot Soldiers is hiring Snow Shovelers for the winter season (October 1 - March 31).As an independent contractor, you'll clear snow from residential, commercial, and government properties throughout Brooklyn. Foot Soldiers services properties under seasonal snow management agreements already in place, providing contractors with access to recurring winter work.This opportunity is ideal for rideshare drivers, students, paraprofessionals, tradespeople, and Brooklyn residents looking to earn additional income during the winter season.PAY & EARNINGSEarn 40% of property revenue based on property size, snowfall amount, and time of dayEarn 50% of property revenue for overnight assignments (8:00 PM-6:00 AM) and federal holidaysEarn an additional 10% bonus on every job completed after your first 8 jobs during a snow eventReceive 100% of customer tipsTypical pay ranges from $32-$100+ per propertyMost jobs take approximately 30-45 minutes to completeWalking contractors often earn $300+ per snow eventContractors with vehicles often earn $750+ per snow eventEarnings vary based on storm size, availability, property sizes accepted, and the number of jobs completedPAYMENT SCHEDULEPayments are made via direct depositPayments are issued on the 3rd and 18th of each monthFLEXIBLE SCHEDULINGChoose which snow events to participate inChoose how many jobs to acceptWork throughout Brooklyn neighborhoodsSet your availability before each stormCLIENT EXPECTATIONSContractors are expected to:Pre-treat properties with calcium chloride when requiredUse plastic snow shovels (metal snow shovels are prohibited)Clear approximately 75% of sidewalks and 100% of stairwaysCreate safe paths to entrances, gates, and trash areasClear a minimum 3-foot area around fire hydrants located on the propertyEvenly distribute calcium chloride after snow removalUpload required before-and-after photos through the Foot Soldiers appComplete accepted assignments within 5 hours after snowfall ends, including overnight, early morning, weekend, and holiday snow eventsCONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTSMust be 18 years of age or olderValid government-issued photo IDProof of TIN, EIN, or Social Security NumberSmartphone with active data service capable of running mobile apps and uploading photosProof of residency in your city, state, or provinceAbility to lift up to 75 pounds unassisted and work outdoors in snow and freezing temperaturesMaintain General Liability insurance with a minimum limit of $1,000,000 per occurrenceCONTRACTORS ARE EXPECTED TO HAVEPlastic shovel(s)Calcium chlorideMetal ice chopperCold-weather work gearReliable transportationSmartphone with internet accessWHO SUCCEEDS HERE?This opportunity is best suited for individuals who are:Reliable before, during, and after snow eventsComfortable working independently with limited supervisionAble to communicate through an app and follow written instructionsPrepared with the proper tools and winter gearComfortable working outdoors in challenging weatherAble to document completed work according to client expectationsPositive, professional, and solution-oriented during demanding conditionsABOUT FOOT SOLDIERSFoot Soldiers helps keep Brooklyn safe, accessible, and moving during winter weather.
