Overview

As a Senior Lead Machine Learning Engineer at Capital One, you will be part of an Agile team focused on the development and productionization of machine learning applications and systems at scale. This role involves design, implementation, and optimization of machine learning models, as well as collaborating with cross-functional teams to create innovative solutions for business challenges.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and build machine learning models and components to solve business problems
  • Collaborate with Product and Data Science teams to inform ML infrastructure decisions
  • Write and test application code while developing and validating machine learning models
  • Enhance software for big data and machine learning applications as part of an Agile team
  • Maintain and monitor models in production
  • Leverage cloud-based architectures to optimize ML models
  • Construct data pipelines for machine learning models
  • Implement continuous integration and continuous deployment best practices
  • Ensure code quality, management, and adherence to governance and best practices in AI

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 8 years of experience in data-intensive solutions using distributed computing
  • 4 years of programming experience with Python, Scala, or Java
  • 3 years of experience in building, scaling, and optimizing machine learning systems
  • 2 years of experience leading teams developing machine learning solutions
  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  • On-the-job experience with ML frameworks such as scikit-learn, PyTorch, Dask, Spark, or TensorFlow
  • Experience in developing performant, resilient, and maintainable code
  • Experience in data gathering and preparation for machine learning models
  • 3 years of people management experience
