Job Description

Overview

As a Senior Food Scientist at Butterball, you will guide product development and process improvement for new products, and optimize existing formulations. You'll collaborate with various teams and vendor partners while ensuring compliance with product specifications and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Organize and manage R&D activities for assigned projects
  • Guide new products from conception to commercialization
  • Maintain awareness of new concepts, products, ingredients, and technologies
  • Communicate and provide technical support for new product development
  • Identify and recommend new raw materials and processes
  • Implement new processes and product formulas for cost savings and quality improvements
  • Serve as a technical resource for operations and QA teams
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance profitability and product quality
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior team members

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in food science or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Project management skills
  • Poultry science and processing experience
  • Strong oral and written communication
  • Advanced knowledge in food technology and ingredient technology
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
