Overview

The Senior Director of Information Services Division at Akron Children's Hospital will report directly to the CIO and provide strategic and operational leadership for the IS division. This role involves overseeing core IT activities, managing budgets, and fostering an IT culture that aligns with the hospital's mission and values.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead IT strategic and operational planning and coordinate evaluation and management of IT systems
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to meet hospital IT needs
  • Ensure compliance with organizational, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements
  • Optimize current IS structure, software applications, and services
  • Manage budgets and staffing for effective delivery of IT solutions
  • Supervise and evaluate the IT department's activities
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors and resolve issues with manufacturers
  • Build and mentor an effective leadership team

Required skills

  • Proven leadership experience in IS/IT
  • Experience in negotiating and evaluating contracts
  • Strategic planning and execution capabilities
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in high-pressure situations
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and time management skills
  • Understanding of major trends in healthcare
  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred
  • Minimum of ten years' experience in IT with supervision
