Job Description

Overview

Lead Sensor Data Extraction: Perform extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from prototype sensors. Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure robust integration pipelines for seamless flow of sensor data into analytical systems. Direct hands-on work with live sensor hardware to troubleshoot and optimize data extraction. Data Quality Assurance: Develop and maintain processes for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of sensor data, including real-time monitoring and anomaly detection. Consumer Studies: Design, lead, and analyze consumer studies and human subject data-gathering initiatives, ensuring ethical, privacy-compliant, and scientifically rigorous practices to support machine learning model training. Data Operations for ML Models: Lead data preprocessing, labeling, and structuring for the development of machine learning algorithms. Hardware Feedback & Optimization: Analyze sensor data to diagnose, report, and recommend improvements to hardware teams. Drive iterative optimization of sensor performance, calibration, and system reliability. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, product, and research teams to refine data collection approaches, deliver actionable insights, and influence the direction of sensor and AI product development. Process Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Champion continuous improvement in data extraction methods, automation, system performance, and data collection for ML, leveraging new technologies and industry trends. Minimum Requirements: Masters degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or closely related field, or foreign degree equivalent, plus 2 years of experience in sensor-based data analysis, data pipeline development, and applied data science in research or hardware-integrated environments. The experience (which may be gained concurrently) must also include experience in each of the following: 2 years of experience using Python or similar high-level programming language for data extraction, analysis, and scripting; 2 years of hands-on experience in sensor data extraction and hardware integration, including working directly with physical sensor systems to collect, validate, and preprocess real-world data; 2 years of experience with data validation, data quality assurance, or anomaly detection; 2 years of experience using data visualization or monitoring tools, such as python or tableau; 1 year of experience designing or running human data collection studies or experiments; 1 year of experience collaborating with cross-functional teams; and 1 year of experience in mentoring or team leadership. Job Location: 678 Mass. Ave., Suite 901, Cambridge, MA, 02139. Telecommuting allowed. 10:00am 6:00pm. 20% of time traveling domestically. Salary: $137,946 per year.
