Position SummaryThe Senior Estimator is responsible for managing high-volume, high-value millwork bids from concept through proposal submission. This role encompasses advanced estimating, value engineering, client communication, and cross-department collaboration. The ideal candidate has deep knowledge of millwork fabrication, materials, and installation, and can confidently justify estimates with research and sound reasoning. Key ResponsibilitiesCommunicate professionally with vendors, subcontractors, GCs, architects, and clients via phone and emailReview drawings, specifications, sketches, and renderings to identify and confirm millwork scopePerform detailed takeoffs and prepare accurate, competitive proposalsConduct in-depth research on materials, products, fabrication methods, and installation requirementsMaintain detailed notes and logs to support future estimates and continuous improvementEnsure all bid items are captured accurately with minimal revisions due to missed scopeSubmit proposals for internal leadership review at least two days prior to GC/client due datesRespond to emails promptly, at minimum within 24 hoursWork on multiple bids simultaneously in a fast-paced environmentCollaborate with project management, production, and installation teams to ensure successful project executionUtilize Procore to review bid documents and submit RFIs as neededFormat proposals and correspondence in accordance with Millwork Brothers standards Advanced Senior-Level ExpectationsConfidently and tactfully discuss Millwork Brothers' scope of work with GCs, clients, architects, and designersCreate estimates that are accurate, well-researched, and clearly defensible during internal reviewDemonstrate extensive knowledge of millwork carpentry, fabrication processes, materials, and installation timelinesPerform value engineering when pricing reductions are requested, offering logical, safe, and cost-effective solutionsDevelop sound estimating approaches when drawings or details are limitedMaintain composure under pressure and meet tight deadlines, including staying late when necessary for critical bidsExhibit full fluency in architectural and shop-grade drawingsPossess full understanding of material performance, tolerances, and constructability Required Skills & QualificationsStrong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skillsAdvanced proficiency with BluebeamAbility to accurately prepare proposals from architectural plans, renderings, and limited sketchesLogical problem-solving skills with strong attention to detailSolid understanding of labor hours and installation time for millwork projectsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently with a strong sense of urgency Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of AutoCAD and SketchUp is a plusExperience with high-volume, high-value millwork biddingProven ability to consistently produce competitive bids
