Overview

New Valley Bank & Trust is looking for a Senior Commercial Loan Credit Analyst to join their Lending Department in Springfield, Massachusetts. This hybrid role involves evaluating the credit risks of commercial clients through financial analysis and providing insight into their creditworthiness. The analyst will work independently and collaboratively to support both loan origination and portfolio review initiatives.

Key responsibilities

  • Evaluate and determine credit risks of commercial clients through financial statement analysis and industry assessment
  • Perform detailed credit analysis for new credit approvals and renewals
  • Assign risk ratings and provide independent recommendations to loan officers
  • Collaborate with Lenders and Portfolio Managers to complete underwriting tasks
  • Utilize Abrigo Sageworks for creating financial summaries and credit presentations
  • Maintain reports and tracking metrics for the Bank Portfolio and Borrowers
  • Monitor policy compliance and ensure adherence to commercial credit policies
  • Mentor and guide junior analysts and team members
  • Adhere to compliance and operational risk controls

Required skills

  • 3 years of experience in commercial credit or public accounting
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
  • Commercial underwriting expertise
  • Working knowledge of underwriting software programs
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
