Overview

Pacific Life is seeking a Senior Actuary to join their Annuity Inforce Management team in Newport Beach, CA, Omaha, NE, or Charlotte, NC. This role is crucial for supporting annual plan projections, collaborating with the FP&A team, and communicating insights related to profitability and market risk. The candidate will work in a hybrid environment and will be involved in the evolution of portfolio decisions, retention strategies, and actuarial modeling.

Key responsibilities

  • Support annual plan projections and analysis
  • Collaborate with FP&A on plan results
  • Communicate insights on profitability drivers
  • Identify retention strategies for high-performing business
  • Develop insights related to portfolio evolution
  • Lead annual MRM updates and support model reviews
  • Perform assumption testing and inform team of financial impacts
  • Manage project updates, milestones, and risks

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related fields
  • FSA designation required
  • Experience with actuarial modeling software (Prophet preferred)
  • Experience with large data sets (e.g., Alteryx, Snowflake)
  • Data visualization software experience (e.g., Tableau)
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • 6+ years of actuarial experience preferred
  • Understanding of annuity products and pricing
  • Knowledge of accounting frameworks and reinsurance
