Overview

Pacific Life is seeking a Senior Financial Reporting Analyst II for their centralized accounting and financial reporting team in Newport Beach, CA. This role involves executing quarterly accounting tasks, preparing financial statements, and collaborating with various teams to ensure accurate financial reporting. The position offers opportunities for professional development and contributions to finance transformation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

  • Execute quarterly accounting and reporting tasks including journal entry processing and reviews.
  • Prepare and review GAAP and statutory financial statements and compliance requests.
  • Coordinate with teams in actuarial, accounting, reporting, tax, and technology.
  • Validate impacts of business events on accounting results.
  • Provide fluctuation analysis and present results to management.
  • Support finance transformation initiatives including process automation.
  • Engage in knowledge sharing and mentorship of less experienced colleagues.

Required skills

  • 8+ years of experience in a relevant field
  • 4-year accounting degree or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Teams
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Insurance industry experience preferred
  • Certification or experience with PeopleSoft, Oracle, Appian, Essbase, WDesk, or ARCs
  • CPA candidacy or licensure and public accounting experience are a plus
