Overview

The Safety Specialist at MarBorg Industries is tasked with developing, implementing, and enforcing safety programs and policies within the Recycle Yard and Recycling Centers in Santa Barbara. This role is essential for ensuring compliance with regulations and promoting a strong safety culture to prevent workplace injuries and incidents.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain site-specific safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and local regulations.
  • Lead safety orientations and ongoing training for employees.
  • Investigate work-related incidents and accidents, providing reports.
  • Maintain inventory of PPE and ensure its proper use.
  • Oversee compliance programs and environmental regulations.
  • Monitor proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.

Required skills

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant safety experience in waste or heavy industrial settings.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and EPA guidelines.
  • Bilingual in English & Spanish.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong organizational and follow-through skills.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification required.
