Overview

The Safety Officer at Catherine Hershey School is responsible for creating a safe environment for children, staff, and visitors. This role involves patrolling campus spaces, enforcing safety procedures, and responding to emergencies. The Safety Officer reports to the School Operations Manager and handles various safety-related tasks.

Key responsibilities

  • Check doors and windows of campus buildings to ensure security
  • Patrol interior and exterior parts of campus
  • Enforce parking regulations
  • Respond to employee and visitor safety concerns
  • Report safety issues and place work orders
  • Assist with emergency assistance requests
  • Investigate suspicious vehicles on campus
  • Communicate with local fire, ambulance, and police departments
  • Maintain visitor logs
  • Respond to fire and security alarms
  • Document security calls on patrol logs
  • Complete incident reports and conduct follow-ups
  • Enforce organizational policies and procedures
  • Promote a safe working environment
  • Attend regular department meetings
  • Facilitate emergency evacuations
  • Make recommendations for safety changes on campus

Required skills

  • Associate's Degree in law enforcement or related field
  • 3+ years' experience in security or law enforcement
  • CPR and AED Certification
  • Proactive problem identification and solution implementation
  • Comfortable with technology and Microsoft Suite
  • Strong communication skills
  • Commitment to organizational mission and integrity

What the company offers

  • Hourly salary range of $15.87 - $18.00 based on experience
