Job Description

Overview

The Safety Coordinator at Progressive Roofing is responsible for ensuring that safety standards are met on commercial roofing projects in Columbus, OH. This includes conducting safety inspections, providing training, and monitoring compliance with OSHA regulations to prevent accidents and health hazards on-site.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist and report to Senior Safety Manager/Director
  • Travel as necessary for job site duties
  • Stop work to remedy serious safety deficiencies
  • Identify training needs and provide safety training, including OSHA courses
  • Monitor compliance with safety plans and OSHA standards
  • Assist with safety pre-construction meetings
  • Support project team in pre-task safety planning
  • Conduct job site safety inspections and prepare reports
  • Follow up on corrective actions for unsafe conditions
  • Participate in high-risk activities as needed
  • Assist in development of safety-related documents

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Three years experience in commercial roofing
  • Valid driver's license
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Organizational skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of OSHA Standards
  • Understanding of commercial roofing systems and installation methods
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and construction documents
  • Ability to handle physical demands of the job
