Overview

The Safety Coordinator at Thornton Construction Company is responsible for developing and maintaining a comprehensive safety program within the organization. This role emphasizes a strong understanding of OSHA regulations and construction safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day jobsite safety program
  • Conduct workplace jobsite safety inspections and identify hazardous conditions
  • Lead safety stand down meetings to address safety deficiencies
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for all team members
  • Investigate accidents or incidents and implement corrective action plans
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations
  • Maintain accurate safety records for the company
  • Advise management on safety matters with appropriate solutions
  • Conduct safety orientation for new workers
  • Perform PPE inspections and maintain logs of inspection dates

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related field
  • 2-3 years of related experience or equivalent education and training
  • OSHA 30 certification minimum, preferably OSHA 510 & 500
  • Proficiency with computer applications
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry safety standards
  • Understanding of construction terms and safety concepts
  • Ability to handle extreme weather conditions and lift over 50 lbs
  • Navigate construction sites safely
