Job Description

Overview

The H&K Group is seeking a Road Mechanic to repair and maintain diesel and gasoline heavy equipment and trucks in the field for their Western PA divisions. The ideal candidate should be energetic, self-motivated, and professional while adhering to safety regulations and performing diagnostics and repairs.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform all work adhering to OSHA, PA and DoT regulations, and H&K Safety policies
  • Drive to various locations in the Western PA regions for work
  • Review job orders and observe equipment to determine malfunctions and plan work procedures
  • Identify parts for repairs or replacement on equipment/trucks
  • Examine safety devices on equipment/trucks and make adjustments
  • Dismantle equipment/trucks to examine parts for defects
  • Replace defective parts or repair/reproduce parts as needed
  • Assemble and test operate machines or test drive trucks
  • Overhaul gas or diesel engines and perform diagnostics
  • Perform front-end inspections and alignments
  • Other duties as assigned

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Relevant experience and/or training in heavy equipment repair
  • CDL B license and clean driving record
  • Customer Service and Teamwork skills
  • General computer knowledge and experience with caterpillar software (ET & SIS)
  • Ability to use mechanics hand tools, torch, and welder
  • Ability to use appropriate PPE as needed
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of the job
