Job Description

Overview

SSM Health is seeking a part-time Respiratory Care Practitioner to join their Respiratory Care Team at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois. The role involves providing respiratory therapy, monitoring patients' conditions, and educating patients and their families about health conditions. This position primarily operates on a night shift schedule with a requirement for two 12-hour shifts per week.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess patients for appropriate type and frequency of respiratory treatment
  • Develop and implement care plans based on physician orders
  • Monitor and record patient conditions and treatment outcomes
  • Educate patients and families about health conditions and available support
  • Maintain and calibrate respiratory therapy equipment
  • Respond to medical emergencies and participate in rapid response
  • Participate in maintaining departmental inventory levels for supplies

Required skills

  • Associate's degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent experience
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification (BLS HCP)
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)
  • Experience in ICU and nursery preferred
  • Ability to work night shifts and flexible schedule requirements
