Overview

Takeda Pharmaceutical is seeking a Research Senior Scientist in Cheminformatics to join their team in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This role emphasizes a prediction-first culture, leveraging cheminformatics, computational chemistry, and machine learning to enhance drug design processes while collaborating with global teams in medicinal chemistry and AI/ML.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, automate, and deploy cheminformatics workflows and visualization dashboards to support drug discovery projects.
  • Identify opportunities in the DMTA cycle for predictive tools to drive acceleration.
  • Build predictive models for molecule design and optimization.
  • Extract medicinal chemistry design knowledge from large-scale chemical and biological datasets.
  • Implement innovative computational methodologies like AI-based drug discovery and DEL data analysis.
  • Serve as a thought partner to drive innovative chemistry strategies aligned with therapeutic goals.

Required skills

  • PhD in Computational Chemistry, Cheminformatics, Computer Science, or related disciplines.
  • 2+ years of experience in a pharmaceutical or biotech setting.
  • Solid programming and scripting capabilities in Python, R, and C/C++.
  • Strong expertise in cheminformatics toolkits such as RDKit.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the DMTA cycle.
  • Experience with strategic initiatives to accelerate the DMTA cycle.
  • Experience with DEL data analysis and multi-task DL methods is a plus.
