Overview

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) is seeking a Rehabilitation Counselor Senior or Career in Minneapolis. This role is integral in the Vocational Rehabilitation Services division, which helps individuals with disabilities achieve their employment goals and develop career paths. The position emphasizes teamwork and community impact, ensuring that employees are part of a supportive and mission-driven organization.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with disabilities in increasing their vocational, personal, and financial independence.
  • Provide vocational counseling and guidance to develop employment plans.
  • Coordinate intensive services for youth and adults in need of support.
  • Manage a caseload while applying judgment to identify needed supports and technology.
  • Collaborate with schools and maintain relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Travel up to 25% for work-related duties.

Required skills

  • Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Counseling, Human Services, Sociology, Education, Social Work, Psychology,
  • Three years of related work experience in employment counseling for individuals with disabilities.
  • Experience in one-to-one counseling, caseload management, and job placement services.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments and manage competing priorities.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of vocational rehabilitation counseling.
  • Experience with diverse populations and community engagement.
