Overview

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) is seeking a Rehabilitation Counselor Senior or Career to join their Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VRS) division. This role involves empowering individuals with disabilities to achieve their career goals through personalized vocational counseling and guidance, ultimately enhancing their independence in employment and personal finances.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with disabilities in developing employment plans and achieving career goals
  • Provide vocational counseling and guidance to increase vocational, personal, and financial independence
  • Coordinate and provide intensive services for youth and adults with disabilities
  • Manage a caseload of 80-100 cases while developing rehabilitation plans
  • Collaborate with schools and maintain relationships with external stakeholders

Required skills

  • Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Counseling, Human Services, Sociology, Education, Social Work, Psychology
  • Three years of related work experience in employment counseling for individuals with disabilities
  • Experience in one-to-one counseling, job placement services, and employment supports
  • Knowledge of vocational rehabilitation counseling and case management principles
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
