Overview

The Regional Athletic Trainer at Akron Children's Hospital will provide direct patient care to student athletes at Walsh Jesuit High School. This role involves injury prevention, emergency care, rehabilitation, and health education, promoting the overall well-being of athletes while coordinating care with health professionals.

Key responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care including assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and education.
  • Educates students, coaches, and parents on injury prevention and health habits.
  • Conducts physicals and monitors the health of student athletes.
  • Implements and oversees injury prevention programs.
  • Communicates with physicians, coaches, and health professionals about patient care.
  • Provides updates on injury status to coaches and parents.
  • Documents patient care according to departmental standards.
  • Administers first aid and emergency care during practices and competitions.
  • Attends athletic events to provide medical assistance.
  • Participates in departmental research and educational programs.
  • Seeks professional development opportunities.

Required skills

  • Master's degree or Bachelor's degree with athletic training certification.
  • Licensed by the Ohio OT/PT/AT Board.
  • Certified by the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainer.
  • Current Healthcare Provider BLS training.
  • Knowledge of physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of patients.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Interpersonal skills to work with patients and families.
  • Experience in healthcare preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
