Overview

Altra Federal Credit Union is looking for a Real Estate / Mortgage Loan Originator to join their Lindale, TX office. This role involves guiding members through the mortgage process while fostering strong relationships within the local real estate market. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping members achieve their homeownership goals and deliver an exceptional member experience.

Key responsibilities

  • Originate residential mortgage loans by conducting member interviews and completing loan applications.
  • Build strong relationships with members, realtors, builders, and community partners.
  • Act as a liaison between members, internal lending teams, third-party vendors, and secondary market agencies.
  • Collaborate with processors, underwriters, and closing teams to ensure timely loan closings.
  • Attend and conduct loan closings.
  • Stay current on mortgage lending regulations and compliance standards.
  • Embrace new mortgage technology and industry trends.
  • Cross-sell Altra products and services.
  • Represent Altra at community and real estate-related events.

Required skills

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of lending experience preferred.
  • Loan origination experience, especially with secondary market and FHA/VA loans, preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
  • Strong sales mindset with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and mortgage lending systems, specifically Encompass.
