Overview

PrideStaff - Columbus West is seeking a Quoting and Estimating Specialist to enhance their estimating capacity and win rate. This role combines technical expertise in interpreting blueprints with effective customer engagement, focusing on the quoting lifecycle and collaboration with general contractors and engineers.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform detailed takeoffs and interpret blueprints for structural steel and fabricated assemblies.
  • Collaborate with general contractors, engineers, and customers to clarify scope and offer value-engineering solutions.
  • Refine internal estimating tools, Excel templates, and ERP integrations to increase throughput and accuracy.
  • Partner with Engineering, Purchasing, and Production to validate manufacturability and refine labor/material assumptions.
  • Analyze historical job performance and 'hit rates' to enhance pricing models.

Required skills

  • 5-10 years of estimating experience in structural steel, miscellaneous metals, or heavy industrial manufacturing.
  • Mastery of blueprint reading and fabrication processes.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with digital takeoff/ERP systems (e.g., Genius ERP, Tekla EPM, FabSuite).
  • Familiarity with AISC standards and public project bidding.
