Job Description

Overview

As a Quality Assurance Inspector at Saab in West Lafayette, Indiana, you will be part of a team responsible for manufacturing the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk military trainer aircraft. Your primary role will involve conducting inspections to ensure that products meet engineering specifications and quality standards, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Authorize assembly process completion and support in-process inspections
  • Validate product compliance with engineering drawings specifically through visual and dimensional checks
  • Inspect for defects in surfaces, fasteners, sealant, paint, and testing
  • Compile technical data and reports on final inspection results and corrective actions
  • Develop deviation reports and represent quality at the Material Review Board
  • Monitor non-conforming material processes and procedures
  • Deliver high-quality workmanship in inspections of structural assembly and system installations
  • Participate in tooling validation and application for product quality
  • Support metrology measures as needed
  • Develop standardization for working procedures ensuring high repeatability
  • Contribute to a people-first culture aligned with Saab's core values

Required skills

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 2+ years relevant quality inspection experience in manufacturing
  • Quality inspection experience in aeronautics or automotive fields preferred
  • Technical degree or certification in air structure assembly or related fields is a plus
  • Experience with ISO/AS9100 and highly standardized processes preferred
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
  • Ability to perform physical tasks and requirements related to the role
  • Self-motivation and ability to work extended hours if necessary
  • U.S. citizenship or Permanent Residency required
