Overview

Plasser American Corp is seeking a Project Superintendent for Rail Grinding and Milling in Chesapeake, Virginia. This role involves overseeing multiple teams in rail maintenance, focusing on quality and efficient management of rail grinding and milling operations across North America. The ideal candidate will combine engineering expertise with strong leadership and communication skills to ensure high standards of rail treatments and operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage rail grinding and rail milling teams
  • Approve expenses and payroll
  • Schedule team rotations and participate in hiring
  • Identify rail surface defects and assess rail conditions
  • Develop long-term rail treatment plans and input into the annual budget
  • Conduct on-site inspections and audits of equipment
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot rail grinding and milling equipment

Required skills

  • 5-7 years of experience in the railway engineering
  • Knowledge of rail grinding and rail milling operations
  • Familiarity with industry practices and procedures
  • Strong coordinating and influencing skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to obtain an e-RailSafe card and a passport
