Duties and Responsibilities: Design and develop fiber-optic connectors for co-packaged optics, ensuring mechanical integrity and optical performance.Perform opto-mechanical simulations using finite element analysis (FEA) to predict product behavior under various conditions.Create and manage detailed 3D solid models of components and assemblies using industry-standard CAD tools.Draft precise 2D engineering drawings with appropriate geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).Collaborate with cross-functional teams including optical, electrical, and manufacturing engineers to ensure product feasibility and manufacturability.Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for mechanical, thermal, and optical performance validation.Conduct environmental and reliability testing (e.g., thermal cycling, vibration, shock, humidity) to ensure long-term product durability.Analyze test data, identify failure modes, and implement design improvements.Support prototype development and transition designs into production.Document test procedures, results, and design changes in accordance with quality and regulatory standards PM19 Requirements: Skills:Oral and Written Communication SkillsOrganizationProfessionalismTime ManagementComputer LiteracyDetail OrientedProblem Solving Multi-taskingReporting accuracyQualifications:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering5-10 years of experience in opto-mechanical design, preferably in fiber-optic or photonics-related products.Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (e.g., NX, SolidWorks, Creo, or equivalent).Strong skills in FEA tools (e.g., MSC Marc, NASTRAN, ANSYS, COMSOL) for mechanical and thermal simulations.Solid understanding of GD&T and experience creating detailed engineering drawings.Hands-on experience with mechanical and optical testing equipment.Experience with co-packaged optics or photonic integrated circuits. (Preferred)Familiarity with optical fiber alignment and packaging techniques. (Preferred)Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes relevant to precision optical components.
