Job Description

Overview

The Patient Care Associate at Spaulding Hospital will support patients with daily living activities under the supervision of licensed personnel while also assisting with vital signs and medical documentation. This role is integral to fostering a positive team environment and ensuring high-quality patient care.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and eating
  • Take and document vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration
  • Perform patient care-related duties and clinical functions as assigned, including phlebotomy and 1:1 patient observation
  • Complete all required documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
  • Ensure patient rooms are stocked and cleaned appropriately
  • Assist with patient admissions and discharges
  • Facilitate orientation of new PCA team members
  • Communicate effectively with nursing staff and other care team members

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
  • Experience in patient care or elder care (0-1 year preferred)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Strong patient and customer service skills
  • Proficient in computer skills for electronic medical records
