NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: For those positions in which incumbents will be working with and handling refrigerants, possession of an appropriate EPA refrigerant recycling and recovery certification for technicians will be required (as required under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act, 1990).Job Duties and Other InformationPerforms preventive maintenance tasks on building mechanical equipment and componentsPerforms preventive maintenance tasks on pumps, motors, control systems, piping and other equipmentOperates, monitors and controls system wide outputOperates building mechanical systems including firing up steam boilers, starting and stopping chillers, pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, refrigeration and HVAC equipmentPerform minor projects as assigned on the entire campus that may include pipefitting, mechanical equipment, electrical circuits and paintingTakes immediate action to personally stop unsafe acts if delay to inform supervisor may allow accident to occurPerforms chemical and softener testsBlows down boilersReads gauges to check water levels, steam pressure., and operation. of valves and auxiliary pumpsAssist other trades with preventive maintenance tasksSpecial events work, Campus maintenance emergencies, Work ordersPosition-Specific Details: The starting rate of pay is $21.05 per hour and the 1st Quartile rate of pay is $25.26 with an additional $1 Longevity Pay, $2 Shift Differential and $3 weekend Pay for hours worked only. Rate of pay may be adjusted dependent upon applicants' experience and qualifications.
