Overview

VitalCore Health Strategies is seeking a Full Time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for the Urgent Care Night Shift at Duane Waters Health Center in Jackson, Michigan. The role involves providing healthcare in a correctional environment, focusing on addressing medical emergencies and patient needs under the supervision of a physician, while promoting a positive work environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Respond to and initiate care for medical emergencies throughout the facility
  • Identify patient health problems and prescribe treatment under the direction of a physician
  • Provide education to inmates, healthcare staff, and correctional staff
  • Document all healthcare contacts
  • Adhere to safety and security policies and participate in disaster drills
  • Follow security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications
  • Delegate to and supervise other team members as appropriate
  • Adhere to Universal Precautions and other infection control practices
  • Attend training and meetings as required
  • Work every other weekend and half the holidays

Required skills

  • Graduate of an accredited college/university NP/PA program
  • Current licenses or certifications in the state of employment
  • Experience in correctional healthcare is desired but not required
  • Maintain required annual licensure and credentialing requirements
