Overview

UNC Health is seeking a Nurse Educator for its Operating Room departments in Holly Springs and Raleigh, North Carolina. This role involves coordinating staff development and educational needs for nursing staff, patients, and families within a robust and efficient surgical program that serves various populations and specialties.

Key responsibilities

  • Acts as a resource and role model in evidence-based practice.
  • Assists in orientation and placement of nursing students in clinical units.
  • Mentors graduate students and provides support to faculty.
  • Collaborates with nursing staff on clinical research and performance improvement projects.
  • Oversees orientation and development for new staff to meet competency expectations.
  • Conducts learning needs assessments and plans educational programs.
  • Develops and implements educational materials and self-instructional programs.
  • Evaluates patient and family education materials in conjunction with other experts.
  • Serves as a clinical resource providing supervision to enhance clinical skills.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in North Carolina
  • Three years of experience in tertiary care
  • Two years of clinical experience in specialty area
  • Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) preferred
  • Knowledge in clinical research and performance improvement methodologies
  • Skills in mentoring and educational program development
