Overview

Paragon Energy Solutions is seeking a Nuclear I&C Electrical Hardware Engineer to support the development of control, monitoring, and safety systems for nuclear power plants. This role involves defining hardware requirements, preparing and reviewing design documentation, collaborating with engineers, testing prototypes, and overseeing vendors to ensure quality outputs.

Key responsibilities

  • Define electrical hardware requirements for components and systems
  • Prepare and review design documentation such as hardware drawings and test specifications
  • Collaborate with programmable logic engineers for hardware integration
  • Test hardware prototypes and document results
  • Troubleshoot errors and suggest design modifications
  • Oversee hardware vendors and contract manufacturers

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience as a hardware design engineer
  • Experience with nuclear safety I&C system development
  • Creation of drawing packages for large assemblies
  • High-speed multi-layer PCB design
  • FPGAs, HDL languages such as VHDL, PLC or DCS implementations
  • Board design packages like OrCAD and Altium
  • Electrical design software like SolidWorks Electrical
  • Proficiency in MATLAB and Simulink
  • Understanding of wire routing and quality standards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
