Job Description

Overview

The Network Deployment Specialist at Vernovis will support the deployment and maintenance of critical networking infrastructure for a leading public transportation organization in Columbus, Ohio. This role involves working onsite to configure, install, and troubleshoot networking equipment on transit vehicles and fixed locations.

Key responsibilities

  • Deploy, upgrade, and maintain network equipment at transit locations
  • Configure, install, and test network switches, routers, and wireless devices
  • Perform bench testing and validation of new network hardware
  • Conduct network diagnostics, including signal strength testing and device health monitoring
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues involving various network technologies
  • Coordinate installation schedules with multiple teams
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations and installation records
  • Assist with firmware updates and lifecycle replacement of network devices
  • Support new technology project rollouts and respond to service tickets

Required skills

  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Networking, or related field
  • Hands-on experience with network switches and routers (Cisco, Cradlepoint, Aruba)
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing protocols, DHCP, DNS
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and network schematics
  • Experience with network diagnostic tools (e.g., Wireshark, NetScout)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and working independently in field environments
  • Valid U.S. driver's license for travel to various locations
