Overview

The Mortgage Loan Closer / Funder at New West Lending Inc is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and finalizing residential mortgage loan closing packages while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. This role involves significant attention to detail to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely disbursement of funds.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare and review closing packages, including Closing Disclosures, notes, and settlement statements
  • Ensure loan terms and fees align with approved underwriting and investor requirements
  • Coordinate closings with title companies, escrow agents, and settlement attorneys
  • Balance loan files to ensure accuracy of fees and cash-to-close figures
  • Ensure compliance with TRID, RESPA, and TILA regulations
  • Deliver Closing Disclosures within required regulatory timeframes
  • Clear prior-to-close conditions and verify file completeness
  • Review executed closing packages for completeness and accuracy prior to funding
  • Confirm wire instructions and funding amounts with settlement agents
  • Authorize and initiate funding in accordance with internal controls
  • Balance and reconcile funding figures, including final HUD/CD
  • Maintain audit-ready loan files with complete documentation
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies or compliance issues prior to funding

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree preferred
  • 3+ years of mortgage closing and/or funding experience
  • Strong knowledge of closing documentation and mortgage loan lifecycle
  • Working knowledge of TRID and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Experience with loan origination systems (e.g., Calyx and DocMagic)
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong analytical and balancing skills
  • Ability to manage multiple loans under tight deadlines
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • High level of integrity and adherence to internal controls
