Overview

The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) position at River's Edge Hospital involves performing diagnostic laboratory procedures overnight on a Baylor shift, focusing on providing accurate test results for patient diagnosis and treatment. This role includes responsibilities in quality assurance, effective communication, and adherence to laboratory standards and regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic laboratory procedures and provide timely test results
  • Participate in the Laboratory's Quality Assurance Plan
  • Maintain high customer satisfaction and practice hospital Standards of Behavior
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, patients, and the public regarding test results
  • Perform EKGs and collect laboratory specimens as required
  • Adhere to federal and state laws, regulations, and laboratory policies
  • Document all quality control activities and corrective actions taken
  • Flexibly share weekend and holiday shifts
  • Participate in continuing education and training of new employees

Required skills

  • Associate Degree as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)
  • ASCP certification or equivalent
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Experience in performing EKGs and specimen collection techniques
  • Knowledge of quality assurance practices and laboratory regulations
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to manage stress and resolve conflicts
