Overview

WellSpan Hospitals is seeking a Medical Technologist/MLT for a full-time night shift position at their facility in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. The role involves providing technical assistance in laboratory testing, specimen collection, and patient care in a small-format hospital setting.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory tests according to established protocols and procedures.
  • Collect and process specimens using appropriate techniques.
  • Conduct quality control and preventive maintenance on laboratory instruments.
  • Validate and report test results while addressing technical troubleshooting.
  • Ensure compliance with safety practices and maintain relevant documentation.
  • Assist with patient care activities including phlebotomy, vital signs, and EKG initiation.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment following infection control measures.
  • Foster collaboration among clinical departments to resolve complaints or issues.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Biological/Physical Sciences or Medical Laboratory Science
  • Current BLS certification
  • Minimum of 6 years core lab experience
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist (MLS/MLT) by ASCP or AMT
  • Experience with IV starts, phlebotomy, and initiating EKGs is a plus
