Overview

The Medical Records Coder II (Inpatient) at Duke Health is responsible for coordinating and reviewing coding tasks while assisting in training and education programs. This certified coder will utilize coding conventions to accurately code medical records and ensure optimal reimbursement processes. The position is fully remote, with a focus on maintaining high-quality standards in coding practices.

Key responsibilities

  • Code medical records using ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and/or CPT-4 coding conventions
  • Review and coordinate the work of designated employees
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure quality and quantity of work
  • Assist with the development and presentation of continuing education programs
  • Consult with and educate physicians on coding practices
  • Abstract and compile data for proper reimbursement
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of medical record practices and regulations
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
