Overview

As a Mechanical Journeyman (Tool and Die) at General Motors, you will operate with minimal supervision, engaging in various mechanical and hydraulic repair tasks on industrial machinery. This role demands flexibility and the ability to manage multiple assignments, focusing on safety and compliance with established procedures.

Key responsibilities

  • Follow safety procedures according to OSHA standards.
  • Maintain, dismantle, repair, and replace mechanical and hydraulic components of machinery.
  • Layout, assemble, fabricate, maintain, and repair piping systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints for automation and mechanical assembly.
  • Operate mobile equipment like forklifts and cranes.
  • Set up and operate CNC and conventional machine tools.
  • Fabricate tools and assemblies according to specifications.
  • Ensure quality of finished products using measuring instruments.

Required skills

  • At least six years of experience in a mechanical trade
  • Experience with CNC machining, hydraulics, and automation
  • Proficiency in blueprint reading
  • Ability to operate mobile equipment
  • Familiarity with safety compliance and maintenance systems
