Advanced Home is a premier smart home integration company serving Minnesota homeowners with custom technology solutions including home theaters, whole home audio, lighting control, motorized shades, networking, security systems, surveillance cameras, and home automation.We are seeking an experienced Lead Smart Home & AV Installation Technician to join our growing team. This position is ideal for a motivated professional who enjoys working directly with clients, leading installation projects, and delivering exceptional technology experiences in luxury residential environments.Position SummaryThe Lead Installation Technician is responsible for overseeing and performing the installation, configuration, and commissioning of residential technology systems. This role requires strong technical skills, leadership abilities, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer experiences.ResponsibilitiesLead residential smart home and AV installations from rough-in through final commissioningInstall and configure home theaters, distributed audio systems, televisions, projectors, surveillance cameras, security systems, networking equipment, lighting control systems, and motorized shadesSupervise and mentor installation technicians on project sitesRead and interpret construction plans, wiring diagrams, and system documentationInstall and terminate low voltage cabling including Cat6, speaker wire, fiber optic, and control wiringProgram and troubleshoot integrated systems including Sonos, Lutron, (link removed), networking equipment, and home automation platformsPerform equipment rack assembly, cable management, and system labeling to company standardsConduct system testing, quality control inspections, and client demonstrationsCoordinate with homeowners, builders, electricians, and project managers throughout the installation processMaintain accurate project documentation and daily progress updatesQualificationsMinimum 5 years of experience in residential AV, smart home integration, low voltage, security, networking, or related fieldsStrong understanding of low voltage wiring and installation best practicesExperience with home networking including routers, switches, wireless access points, and internet troubleshootingFamiliarity with systems such as Lutron, Sonos, (link removed), Control4, Josh AI, URC, or similar platforms is preferredAbility to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and construction documentsStrong troubleshooting and problem solving skillsExcellent communication and customer service abilitiesValid driver's license and clean driving recordAbility to lift up to 75 pounds and work on ladders, attics, and construction sitesPreferred CertificationsLow Voltage LicenseNetworking CertificationsManufacturer certifications from Lutron, Sonos, (link removed), Ubiquiti, or similar platformsCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive pay based on experienceCompany vehicle opportunitiesPaid holidays and PTOOngoing training and manufacturer certification programsAdvancement opportunities within a growing companyWhy Join Advanced Home?At Advanced Home, you'll work on some of the most exciting residential technology projects in Minnesota.
