Overview

The University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources is seeking a Livestock and Natural Resources Advisor to serve Mariposa and Merced counties. This role involves implementing an extension education and applied research program focused on livestock production systems, including grazing management, nutrition, herd health, and marketing.

Key responsibilities

  • Implement extension education and applied research in livestock production systems
  • Conduct individual consultations and organize educational workshops
  • Disseminate research results through various platforms including webinars and fact sheets
  • Develop educational outreach programs addressing livestock community challenges
  • Collaborate with agricultural professionals and local organizations
  • Conduct field demonstrations and site visits

Required skills

  • Master's degree in animal science, range management, or related field
  • Certified Rangeland Manager license or coursework toward it
  • Experience in applied research and extension education
  • Knowledge of range management and livestock production
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to travel and a valid California Driver's License
  • Familiarity with California's natural resources
