Job Description

Overview

The Lifeguard at Boys & Girls Clubs of the Capital Area will supervise the pool area, ensuring the safety of all patrons during the summer season from June to September 1. This role includes responding to emergencies, maintaining cleanliness around the pool, and enforcing safety regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Supervise swimming activities at the aquatics facility and ensure safety policies are followed
  • Warn swimmers of improper activities and enforce pool regulations
  • Administer a deep end swim test for patrons
  • Provide first aid and perform water rescues as necessary
  • Evaluate safety conditions and initiate emergency action plans
  • Inspect pool facilities and equipment for safety
  • Attend mandatory bi-weekly in-service trainings
  • Complete weekly lap swim requirement
  • Perform cleaning and maintenance duties as assigned

Required skills

  • Knowledge of water safety and emergency response techniques
  • Ability to evaluate water conditions and assess safety risks
  • Swimming proficiency in various water conditions
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and operational procedures
  • Certification in CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
