Overview

We are seeking an experienced Liens Attorney that will provide legal guidance and strategic support to the Liens Department in the negotiation and resolution of personal injury liens. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of personal injury lien resolution, exceptional negotiation and analytical skills, and a commitment to client advocacy. This role requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.Read on to find out what you will need to succeed in this position, including skills, qualifications, and experience.Key ResponsibilitiesLegal Support and Lien Resolution Provide legal counsel and support to the Liens Department in the negotiation and resolution of personal injury liens, including healthcare liens involving Medicare, Medicaid, ERISA plans, hospital liens, private insurance carriers, medical providers, and attorney liens. Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of lien-related issues in active cases and collaborate with the Chief Compliance Officer to facilitate timely lien resolution and distribution of settlement proceeds. Analyze lien claims and identify opportunities to reduce lien obligations and maximize client recovery.Negotiation and Advocacy Communicate and negotiate with attorneys, healthcare providers, insurers, governmental agencies, and other lienholders to achieve favorable lien resolutions. Advocate on behalf of clients to ensure lien claims are accurate, valid, and appropriately resolved.Compliance and Legal Research Monitor and stay current on applicable lien laws, regulations, and industry developments affecting personal injury settlements. Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, correspondence, and other legal documents related to lien matters and compliance issues.Client Communication Support the Liens Department in responding to client inquiries regarding lien status, resolution timelines, and the impact of lien reductions on settlement distributions. Communicate complex lien-related matters in a clear, professional, and client-focused manner.Documentation and Collaboration Maintain accurate and organized records of lien negotiations, settlements, and related communications. Collaborate closely with litigation, settlement, accounting, compliance, and liens teams to develop and implement effective case resolution strategies.Qualifications Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school. Licensed attorney in good standing with the CA State Bar. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in personal injury law, healthcare lien resolution, or a related practice area. Demonstrated knowledge of personal injury liens, including Medicare, Medicaid, ERISA, hospital, and provider liens. Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Exceptional organizational skills with a keen attention to detail. Proficiency in legal research platforms and case management systems.
