Overview

State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company is seeking a Legislative/Regulatory Counsel to join their Corporate Law's Legislative/Regulatory Section in Bloomington, Illinois. This role involves leading the company's government relations across multiple states and influencing legislative and regulatory activities that impact the business and its customers.

Key responsibilities

  • Monitor and influence legislative and regulatory activities across multiple states.
  • Build relationships with lobbyists, trade associations, and external partners.
  • Collaborate with the Public Policy team to craft innovative policy solutions.
  • Represent State Farm before regulators and guide responses to examinations.
  • Support business units with rate filings and complaints.

Required skills

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active law license in at least one state
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in government relations, legislative drafting, or regulatory law
  • Proactive legal expertise and high-quality legal advice
  • Ability to excel in collaborative environments and adapt to new areas of law
