Job Description

Overview

Marathon Petroleum is seeking a full-time Industrial Mechanic for their St. Paul Park Refinery. This role primarily focuses on maintaining critical rotating equipment such as pumps and compressors. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment, with training provided as needed.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance on pumps, compressors, and blowers
  • Complete assigned projects and additional duties
  • Pass competency tests including written assessments and machinist skills demonstrations
  • Operate manual lathe and Bridgeport Milling machine
  • Work in confined spaces and handle various mechanical tools and devices

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience as a manual machinist in the last 5 years
  • Experience with rotating pump mechanics and basic plate welding
  • General computer skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to climb more than 75 feet and obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
