Overview

The HVAC/ELECTRICIAN TRADES WORKER is responsible for maintaining and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning/refrigeration systems and equipment and for installing, maintaining, and repairing electric power and lighting systems and related fixtures and equipment. The position also entails general trades work, including but not limited to light plumbing, equipment maintenance, light carpentry work, and transportation of equipment to and from various parks. The HVAC/Electrician Trades Worker will assist crews performing other trades work as needed. Work is performed under the general direction of the Central Maintenance Administrator. Annual performance goals will be set for the position.Hiring Salary Range: $58,795.72 - $64,513.97ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (w/illustrative examples of work) Repair, replace, and perform preventive maintenance on HVAC systems and equipment: Clean, repair, replace, and/or adjust motor starters, controls, thermostats, relays, values, fuses, etc.Repair or replace other functional components such as compressors, condensers, motors, and fans.Prepare cost estimates for time and materials.Determine nature and extent of damage and/or malfunction and initiate repairs to refrigeration equipment.Supervise work of personnel at Central Maintenance related to HVAC systems.Implement designated procedures for seasonal startups and shutdowns.Check, repair, and calibrate controls; check for leaks.Lubricate moving parts, change filters, tighten electrical connections, and otherwise clean units.Clean indoor and outdoor coils and coils on kitchen refrigeration equipment.Service and maintain greenhouse control system.Inventory and replace filters on HVAC systems at various locations; create a preventive maintenance schedule for changing filters and maintain a list of filter sizes and quantities.Clean and service ice machines at periodic intervals, replace filters.Clean and service oil-fired boilers, furnaces, and chiller units.Repair, replace, and perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems; install new service/equipment:Determine nature and extent of damage and/or malfunction, and initiate repairs.Repair circuit breakers, relays, ground fault interrupters, wiring, switches, and outlets.Make repairs in commercial kitchens and concessions shops.Install new water heaters, garbage disposals, dishwashers, and washer/dryer sets.Troubleshoot/repair swimming pool pumps and water well distribution systems.Prepare electrical fixtures and equipment such as swimming pools and irrigation systems for shut down and start up (seasonally).Create preventive maintenance schedules for seasonal electrical equipment.Install circuit breakers, relays, ground fault interrupters, wiring, switches, and outlets in a variety of outdoor and indoor settings.Troubleshoot and repair golf course irrigation systems.Run power for installation of appliances and IT systems.Install/repair service disconnects and starter contact units for associated HVAC equipment.Perform miscellaneous work:Prioritize safety and attend to job-related hazards.Plan and schedule work at multiple parks and facilities.Respond to maintenance emergencies at multiple parks and facilities.Assist other crews at NOVA Parks Central Maintenance with carpentry, plumbing, welding, small engine repair, and maintenance of equipment and appliances; gain knowledge of these fields through practical experience.Assist with setup and takedown of holiday light displays.Determine needed resources; order and maintain tools and needed supplies; monitor costs and expenses.Ensure clean, safe, and organized work area.Keep abreast of current standards, practices, and procedures in the HVAC and electrical fields.Train park staff in safe operation and routine maintenance of systems and equipment.Maintain records of repairs, preventive maintenance and service through web-based maintenance software.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (minimum) Education: Graduation from high school supplemented by comple
