Overview

The Hospital Laboratory Director at Memorial Health University Medical Center is responsible for directing operations, programs, and activities within the laboratory to meet both organizational and regulatory requirements while promoting innovation. This role involves ensuring adequate staffing, developing staff through feedback, overseeing financial operations, and maintaining compliance with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Direct operations and activities to meet organizational and regulatory standards
  • Ensure adequate staffing through effective hiring and training processes
  • Develop and recognize staff through coaching and regular feedback
  • Set and execute department strategies for service, quality, and compliance
  • Oversee financial operations by monitoring resource utilization and identifying opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with accrediting agencies standards
  • Manage vendor relationships and supply contracts
  • Implement a communication plan for department personnel
  • Monitor and evaluate staff activities to ensure operational efficiency

Required skills

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology or Chemistry
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • National Certification as a Medical Technologist
  • 3 or more years of progressive laboratory management experience
  • Experience with complex laboratory operations
  • Hospital clinical laboratory experience preferred
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance standards
