Overview

As the Hospital Laboratory Director at Memorial Health University Medical Center, you will lead operations to meet organizational and regulatory requirements while driving innovation in laboratory services. This role involves overseeing staffing, financial operations, and quality assurance to enhance patient care and compliance with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Direct operations, programs, and activities to meet organizational and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure adequate staffing through hiring, training, and performance management
  • Develop and coach staff through regular feedback
  • Set and execute department strategies for service, quality, and compliance
  • Evaluate and incorporate feedback into department improvement processes
  • Oversee financial operations and prepare Monthly Operating Review reports
  • Ensure compliance with accrediting agency standards
  • Manage vendor relationships and supply contracts
  • Implement effective communication plans within the department
  • Monitor and evaluate staff activities to ensure operational efficiency

Required skills

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology or Chemistry
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • National Certification as a Medical Technologist
  • 3+ years of progressive laboratory management experience
  • Hospital clinical laboratory experience preferred
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and quality assurance standards
